Effect of Pro-eutectoid Cementite on Fatigue Crack Growth Behavior of Pearlitic Steels

چکیده
The influence of pro-eutectoid cementite on fatigue crack growth behavior was investigated using various pearlitic steels containing from 0.64 to 1.21 mass%C. rates the hypo-eutectoid and eutectoid hardly changed, while that mass%C steel having a large amount (θ) accelerated especially in high stress intensity factor region. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation revealed fracture surface more frequently contained islanded brittle surfaces than other steels. In steel, total area fraction notably increased with an enhancement maximum (Kmax) due extension. More detailed SEM fractographies were performed comparing between before after etching order identify microstructures beneath appearances steel. As results, it suggested θ involved formation fracture. Based these investigations, hyper-eutectoid discussed terms static induced by near tip.

Electropulse - induced cementite nanoparticle formation in deformed pearlitic steels
Passing one electric-current pulse through deformed pearlitic steel wires at room temperature causes the formation of cementite particles around 30 nm in size. This is found not only in some particular locations but throughout the cementite area, which reveals a different mechanism from traditional spheroidization of cementite plates because the latter leads to the formation of particles with m...
متن کاملAnalysis of Fatigue Crack Paths in Cold Drawn Pearlitic Steel
In this paper, a fracto-metallographic analysis was performed on the cracked specimens of cold drawn pearlitic steel subjected to fatigue tests. Fatigue cracks are transcollonial and exhibit a preference for fracturing pearlitic lamellae, with non-uniform crack opening displacement values, micro-discontinuities, branchings, bifurcations and frequent local deflections that create microstructural...
متن کاملHigh-temperature Fatigue Crack Growth Behavior of 17-4 Ph Stainless Steels
The fatigue crack growth (FCG) behavior was investigated for 17-4 PH stainless steels in three heat-treated conditions, i.e., unaged (Condition A), peak-aged (Condition H900), and overaged (Condition H1150), at temperatures ranging from 300 to 500 C. The high-temperature fatigue crack growth rates (FCGRs) of Condition H1150 were increased with an increase in temperature. However, for Conditions...

The effect of ferrite grain size on the fatigue and tensile properties of dual phase steels with a 0.25 volume fraction of martensite (Vm) under different heat treatments was investigated. The heat treatments were homogenized at 1200 oC along with several subsequent normalizations at 910 oC, resulting in different microstructures and mechanical properties. After heat treatment, the obtained ste...
